Browning Figuring on Marriage

Toronto--Figure-skating champion Kurt Browning is making one of his biggest leaps--into married life.

At a taping for a CBC-TV special, Browning introduced fiancee Sonia Rodriguez, a dancer with the National Ballet of Canada, who shyly stood to acknowledge the applause of the audience at Maple Leaf Gardens.

Then Browning dropped to one knee at centre ice, declared his love and popped the question.

She said yes...and joined him on the ice for a kiss. He then swept her up in his arms and skated off.

The couple's exact wedding plans weren't immediately known. A four-time world champion, Browning, 28, is retired from amateur skating but appears on TV and in ice shows and professional competitions.
