Pedigree continues dog adoption campaign

Source: 680News
Date: February 20, 2009
Each year, more than 45,000 dogs find themselves in animal shelters across Canada.

The makers of Pedigree believe all dogs deserve a good home, which is why the Pedigree Adoption DriveTM campaign is now in its second year.

Four-time World Figure Skating Champion and dog lover Kurt Browning has returned as the campaign's spokesperson.

He said "the adoption drive is mostly [...] to raise funds, but also to raise awareness about shelters and what they do for dogs."

Browning said he hopes the drive will encourage people to help shelter dogs.

"Shelter dogs sometimes are not considered [...] because of certain worries. And you think that there's a reason why dogs go to shelters [but] it's not jail for dogs."

The aim of the campaign is to raise $500-thousand for shelters across Canada through different events, including public skating events with Browning and in-store retailer programs.

Money collected will go to participating shelters across the country and will be used to cover vet care, vaccination, shelter and food costs.
