Three pairs battle for Blades crown

A Stanley Cup champion is about to be crowned a figure skating champion.
One of three remaining pairs in CBC's Battle of the blades will be declared champ by Monday, at least in the eyes of Canadian television viewers.
Left in the mix for the $100,000 prize for charity are former National Hockey League pest Claude Lemieux and his partner, 10-time Canadian ice dancing champ Shae-Lynn Bourne; former Edmonton Oilers star Craig Simpson and Olympic gold-medal winning pairs skater Jamie Sale; and former Montreal Canadiens star Stephane Richer his partner, five-time Canadian dance champion Marie-France Dubreuil.
Between the three retired NHL players, they have won eight Stanley Cup titles.
All three pairs will perform to the music of their choice for the judges on Sunday at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens, with the winner announced during the season finale on Monday. Both shows begin at 8 p.m. on CBC.
Sunday's performance will also include all three pairs collaborating on a routine, along with a group skate featuring the men from the Battle of the Blades.
Monday's finale includes guest performances by the show's co-host, Kurt Browning, and a group performance by all eight pairs that started the competition.
Barbara Underhill and her former partner, Paul Martini, who were the 1984 world champions, will skate together for the first time since 1998 in a performance of their own.
Also highlighting the night are guest performances by Sale with her husband and skating partner David Pelletier; and Dubreuil with her husband and pro skating partner Patrice Lauzon.
The first season of the show officially wraps up on Monday with the presentation of the $100,000 cheque to the winning pair.
Dubreuil and Richer are competing for MA Foundation, while Bourne and Lemieux are skating for Make-A-Wish Canada; and Sale and Simpson are skating for the Spinal Cord Injury Treatment Centre (Northern Alberta) Society.
