Exclusives

Interviews and content exclusive to the Kurt Files

Kurt sat down with composer
Jonathan Galland over Zoom to talk in-depth about the creation of MisDirected for Ice Dance International (released Jan. 27, 2022). It's a fascinating look into the creative process, from concept to choreography to music composition. They capped things off by doing a "DVD-extras" style commentary over "MisDirected." If you're interested in behind-the-scenes looks and the creative process, you'll want to check this out!

Watch Kurt's hilarious, historic conversation with choreographer Sandra Bezic, sharing untold stories from 30+ years of iconic collaborations. Recorded on Sep. 18, 2020, the chat went on for well over an hour, covering an incredible amount of ground. If you're a Kurt fan, you don't want to miss this!

Kurt did a live Q&A with you, his fans, on Facebook Live on Saturday, June 20, 2020 that went for over an hour and featured some great questions from the fans, as well as a surprise walk through his costume closet.

Fun questions with very fun answers: Kurt sat down with me before the 2019 Stars on Ice stop in Hamilton, ON for a fun video interview.

In part 1, he talks about partying in Barbados as "Paul Wylie," what audiences don't know about Elvis Stojko, and which of his own programs Yuzu would nail.

In part 2, he talks about his favorite Stars on Ice pranks and bloopers, the strangest things he's heard or seen from the ice, his favorite compliments to receive, and more!

Kurt and Geoffrey Tyler blogged and sent photos from their travels in Asia for Artistry on Ice and All That Skate. Check out their messages here.

Video Downloads

The Kurt Files will be posting five videos of Kurt's programs a month for old fans and new fans alike to download. Add to your collection, or if you're new to Kurt, check out who this guy is. The videos are chosen to try to showcase Kurt's versatility and range. Videos will be posted in rotation to save on bandwidth usage - ie, when the new five go up, the old five will be taken down - so make sure you check back each month to get them all.

For all videos, please right click and save to your computer, don't play directly off my site. Please keep in mind that these are quite large files. Files should be playable with Windows Media Player. If you have problems, try updating your player.

Videos for the month

In honor of Kurt's induction into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame at the World Championships this month, the Kurt Files takes a retrospective look over Kurt's entire televised career. From his 1985 Junior Canadians LP to his 1995 Peace Frog performance, we've got one program from every year, with the exception of 1995 and 1996, when we have two, and 1986, for which we have no videos. All ten programs that earned the top number of votes from Kurt fans are here (starred, for your viewing pleasure), as well as more than a few of the others that earned votes. The programs here run the gamut from the funny to the intense, from the sexy to the emotional, and I hope you enjoy them. Special thanks to Brit for her help in assembling and choosing this collection.

Given the sheer number of programs and the fact that I got them up late, I'll be keeping these programs up for both the months of March and April. However, bandwidth usage is a bit of a concern so if you've downloaded any of these programs before, please don't download them again. If bandwidth usage gets too much, I will have to take the programs down for the rest of the month, but they *will* be back up in April, so don't worry about missing any. If you have trouble with any of these links, please contact me. PLEASE do not play any of these videos directly off of my site - save them to your own computer.

* One of Kurt fans' top ten favorite programs

Fan Video Montages

Some of Kurt's fans have created some really nice video montages celebrating different aspects of Kurt's career. Take a walk down memory lane with these great video clips set to music. I'll be adding a few more videos over time, so check back from time to time. If you have a video you'd like to contribute, please contact me (though don't send me the video by email!).

For all videos, please right click and save to your computer, don't play directly off my site. Please keep in mind that these are quite large files. Files should be playable with Windows Media Player. If you have problems, try updating your player.

Canadian Man by klf (23.1MB, wmv file)
Music: "Canadian Man" and "Team Canada" by Paul Brandt, "I Am Canadian" (Molson beer commercial song)
A very cute video created in honor of Canada Day (7/1). The title is pretty self-descriptive =).

Kurt Through the Years Part 1 by klf (39.2MB, wmv file)
Music: "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong, "As Time Goes By" by Jimmy Durante, "Have a Little Faith in Me" by John Hiatt
Kurt Through the Years Part 2 by klf (43.1MB, wmv file)

Kurt Through the Years Part 3 by klf (25.7MB, wmv file)
Music: "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" by Elton John
A wonderful, lengthy tribute to Kurt's entire career from childhood photos through pre-Senior performances all the way up until almost the present day. Walk down memory lane, or see video clips you never have before. Relive Kurt's triumphs and disappointments over the course of his amazing career, to the tune of some rather familiar-to-Kurt fans songs. The video is broken up because of size and length.

Skate Gods For Life by Brittany (102.6MB, wmv file)
Music: "You and Me" by Lifehouse, "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf
A very cute tribute to the friendship between Scott Hamilton and Kurt Browning through off-ice and on-ice skating footage. Warning, this is a very large file.

Tribute to a Champion by Brittany (79MB, wmv file)
Music: "Clocks" by Coldplay
Another self-descriptive title. A more or less chronological tribute to Kurt, utilizing on-ice footage starting briefly in his eligible career but mostly focusing on his professional career.

Simply the Best by Brittany (64.0MB, wmv file)
Music: "Simply the Best" by Tina Turner
A lovely tribute to Kurt's skating, including clips of his doing footwork in hockey skates for Stars on Ice, his quad in Antares in Canadian Stars on Ice, his triple axel/2-toe combination at Ice Wars, and other artistic and technical highlights from his career.

Where's He From Again? by Brittany (114.3MB, wmv file)
Music: "Let's All Go To Canada" by Five Iron Frenzy, "I Am Canadian," "Alberta Bound" by Paul Brandt
A tribute to Kurt's Canadian roots.
